Bijenale u Veneciji je najstarija međunarodna izložba vizuelne umetnosti, zvanično otvorena pod ovim nazivom 11. maja 2019. Tom prilikom je više od 80 umetnika izložilo svoje radove u okviru Arsenala i centralnom paviljonu Đardina. Zanimljivo je da je tokom trajanja Bijenala, čitava Venecija jedan veliki izlagački prostor, grad koji je kompletnim svojim sopstvom okrenut ka Bijenalu i, pre svega, likovnoj umetnosti. Živeti interesantan život i vremena je period tokom kog čitava Venecija sa njenim posetiocima stvara i diše. Kroz ovaj sadržaj postavljena su i pokrenuta mnogobrojna pitanja čovečanstva i pozicije čoveka u savremenim vremenima. Da živite u zanimljivim vremenima ističe potencijal umetnosti kao načina za ispitivanje stvari koje su nam nepoznate ili nedostupne, gde prema rečima Ralfa Rugofa: ,,Umetnost ne može rešiti probleme čovečanstva, ali može biti vodič kroz život u današnjem svetu. Ključni zadatak umetnosti je da neumorno postavljanje pitanja.” Samo Bijenale je započeto Vernisažom, predotvaranjem od 8. do 10. maja, tokom kog su se mogli videti različiti performansi (kao i nagrađeni litvanski paviljon 58. Bijenala pod nazivom Sunce i more). Većina autora koja je predstavljena na ovom Bijenalu je mlađe generacije, do 40 godina starosti, što daje na značaju da u umetnosti treba čuti i mlade generacije koji postavljaju bazu za buduća vremena i nova BIjenala. Za nove umetničke trendove koje možemo očekivati i nova vremena u umetnosti. Među paviljonima su ovom prilikom se prvi put predstavili: Alžir, Gana, Madagaskar i Pakistan, a Dominikanska Republika i Kazahstan su prvi put imali samostalne paviljone. May You Live in Interesting Times (Da živite u zanimljivim vremenima) je naziv poslednjeg, 58. Bijenala umetnosti održanog u Veneciji 2019. godine. Svega nekoliko meseci pre nego što će nastati pandemija kovida 19 I promeniti svet. Kao da je sam naziv 58. Bijenala predvideo period koji je nastupio ubrzo nakon završetka i početak pandemije. A šta nam je novo i interesantno donelo ovo Bijenale? Pregršt interaktivnih nastupa, iz različitih delova sveta u pokušaju da se i publika angažuje i dodatno inicira da učestvuje u samom radu. Veliki broj paviljona je bio koncipiran tako da zaustavi posetioce, ne samo da se fotografišu, već i da se zamisle pred radovima koji su predstavljeni na Bijenalu, kao npr. rad Sun Yuan and Peng Yu "Can't Help Myself" -- an industrial robot: Ovakva vrsta umetnosti nas dovodi u poziciju da razmislimo da li živimo interesantna vremena ili nas to tek očekuje? Činjenica je da se utisci, kao ni sve druge stvari, još nisu ni slegle od Bijenala, a svet je ušao u novu fazu života. A šta se desilo sa umetnošću? Velika većina zemalja je kao mere prevencije uvodila višenedeljne karantine I zaključavanja, zabrane izlazaka I insistiranje na radu od kuće, robotizaciju kako bi se stanovništvo zaštitilo. Nastupio je period potpune izolacije na planetarnom nivou. U svojoj najavi samog 58. Bijenala i njegovog koncepta, na otvaranju, Ralf Rugof je rekao: U trenutku kada digitalna diseminacija lažnih vesti i ‘alternativnih činjenica’ korodira politički diskurs i poverenje od kojeg on zavisi, vredno je pauzirati kada god je to moguće i preispitati naše referentne pojmove. Da li su ovo bile reči proroka ili pretpostvaka novih vremena koja nastaju, ne samo u svetu, već u umetnosti, kao proročkoj delatnosti. Umetnika koji oseća i živi interesantna vremena, celog svog života, koliko god bio stvaralački okrenut sebi i svetu. Bijenale u Veneciji, kao jedan od najznačajnijih događaja na polju savremene umetnosti, povlači pitanja koja provociraju i bude osećaj prisutnosti, svesnosti i budnosti. A šta nam donosi Bijenale u 2022. godini? Nakon trogodišnje pauze, u trenutku kada se svet oporavlja od jedne i pokušava da se zaštiti od druge krize, postavlja se pitanje šta se desilo sa umetnicima i umetnošću u periodu od tri godine? Kakve su promene nastupile, razmišljanja i stvaralački pravci? Da li je nakon interesantnih vremena nastupio period Mlečnih snova (The Milk of Dreams) za društvo, umetnosti i umetnika? Mi se vremenski i prostorno trenutno nalazimo u 2022, ali možda je i to san? Zato nas predstojeće Bijenale uvodi u Mleko snova, čiji je naziv, ovogodišnja umetnička direktorka, Ćećilija Alemani preuzela od nadrealističke meksičke slikarke i kniževnice Leonore Karington. Ovaj san koji živimo je imaginarno putovanje u kome možemo danas postati bilo ko i bilo šta, i biti bilo gde. Formula čovečnosti je prebacila na drugi kolosek, a organizmi i duhovni entitet dobijaju nove transformacije. Da li su Bijenala stvorena za nas, otuđenu publiku koja tumara sa odrazima na digitalnim ekranima kako bi nas prodrmala pitanjima u kakvom to svetu zapravo živimo? Svako Bijenale uvodi u otvaranje novih pitanja, a naše je - gde smo mi između Bijenala? Kao da se otvaraju vrata u svet spektakla. Ali ono čega se plašim, jeste da mi zapravo živimo taj svet svaki dan, na ovaj ili onaj način. Možda je predstavljeni rad japanske umetnice amputiranih udova Mary Katayama na 58. Bijenalu reper za metarmorfoze tela i duha zasutim pitanjima: Ko sam ja? Šta sam ja? Ko bih želeo/la biti? Sumnja i neverica povlači preispitivanje koje postaje nužna potreba idetična potrebi za hranom, pićem ili seksom. Danas svi igramo Squid Game sa potrošačkim žarom u vrtlogu bezizlaznosti i egzistencijalne nesigurnosti dok nam u ušima odzvanja refren jedne pesme: ...I šta ćemo sad?...Na ova, kao i mnoga druga pitanja, dobićemo odgovor na 59. venecijskom bijenalu umetnosti. Koliko su zanimljiva vremena u kome živimo upoznaćemo u nastavku putovanja na Mlečnom putu snova.

Living in interesting times highlights the potential of art as a way to examine things that are unknown or inaccessible to us, where, according to Ralph Rugoff: "Art cannot solve the problems of humanity, but it can be a guide to life in today's world. The key task of art is to tirelessly ask questions. ” Only the Biennale began with the Vernissage, pre-opening from May 8 to 10, during which various performances could be seen (as well as the award-winning Lithuanian Pavilion of the 58th Biennale called Sun and Sea). Most of the authors presented at this Biennale are younger generations, up to 40 years of age, which makes it important to hear in art the younger generations who set the basis for future times and new Biennales. We can expect and new times in art. Among the Pavilions, Algeria, Ghana, Madagascar and Pakistan presented themselves for the first time, and the Dominican Republic and Kazakhstan had independent Pavilions for the first time. And what did this Biennale bring us new and interesting? Interactive performances, from different parts of the world initiate the audience to participate. A large number of Pavilions were designed to stop visitors, not only from taking photos, but also from imagining themselves in front of the works presented at the Biennale, such as Sun Yuan and Peng Yu "Can't Help Myself" - an industrial robot: The vast majority of countries have introduced multi-week quarantines and locks, bans on going out and insisting on working from home, and robotics to protect the population. Reconsider our reference terms. Were these the words of the prophets or the presuppositions of the new times that are emerging, not only in the world, but in art, as a prophetic activity? Artist lives interesting times, all his life, no matter how much is creative. The Venice Biennale, as one of the most important events in the field of contemporary art, raises issues that provoke and awakens a sense of presence, awareness and vigilance. To live in interesting times, which the artistic director Ralph Rugoff conceived at the 58th Venice Biennale, is both a question and an answer at the same time.Living in interesting times? Yes, we live in interesting times. The end of the 58th Biennale was greeted by a great flood of general insecurity, instability and crisis. Where is the position of the artist in all this? On the one hand, each of them had enough time and space to stay at home and create. However, the market fell silent. In the long run, the possibility of exchanging content, which is necessary for good and stable art, as well as the possibility of selling works, has been abolished. Even those created before the Covid, but also during the state of emergency. Artists and art can survive crisis were during crisis economically dependent on the help of the state or non-state funds. Those who are constantly on the market in the fight against themselves, creative impulses, the market, customers, critics ... found themselves in an even more difficult position (which was hard to imagine that it exists before all this, but it exists). And what does the Biennale in 2022 bring us? After a three-year break, at a time when the world is recovering from one crisis and trying to protect itself from another crisis, the question arises, what happened to artists and art in a period of three years? What changes have taken place, thoughts and creative directions? Did the period of The Milk of Dreams for society, art and artists come after interesting times? We are currently in 2022 in terms of time and space, but maybe that is also a dream? That is why the upcoming Biennale introduces us to The Milk of Dreams, whose name, this year's artistic director, Cecilia Alemani, took over from the surrealist Mexican painter and writer Leonora Carrington. This dream we are living is an imaginary journey in which we can become anyone and anything today, and be anywhere. The formula of humanity has shifted to another track, and organisms and the spiritual entity are getting new transformations. Were the Biennales created for us, an alienated audience that wanders with reflections on digital screens to shake us with questions about what kind of world we actually live in? Every Biennial introduces new questions, and ours is - where are we between the Biennales? It's as if the door to the world of spectacle is opening. But what I'm afraid of is that we actually live that world every day, one way or another. Perhaps the work presented by the Japanese artist of amputated limbs Mary Katayama at the 58th Biennial of Rappers for Metamorphoses of Body and Spirit is filled with questions: Who am I? What am I? Who would you like to be? Doubt and disbelief lead to re-examination, which becomes a necessary need identical to the need for food, drink or sex. Today we all play Squid Game with consumer zeal in a whirlwind of hopelessness and existential insecurity while the refrain of a song echoes in our ears: ... And what do we do now? ...These, as well as many other questions, will be answered at the 59th Venice Biennale of Art.
